Self-care on tour: how to stay stable
Tours mean freedom, applause and excitement. But they also bring fatigue, restlessness and the constant change of places, beds and people. As a musician in particular, you need a strong foundation so that you don't get lost between the gig and the after-show.
Self-care is not a luxury, but the basis for really living up to your potential - and staying healthy.
Here are five things that will help you stay with you on the road:
Plan daily micro-routines
Ten minutes of voice training, a short walk, a moment of silence after getting up - small habits give you support, even if your environment is constantly changing.Communicate your needs
Tell your team or band when you need to retreat. No one can read minds. If you clearly express what you need, you will be respected - not ridiculed.Take care of your energy management
You don't have to be at every social event. You can also just go to your hotel room alone after the gig. You can only really shine on stage if you take care of yourself.Pay attention to nutrition and hydration
Sounds banal, but it's tour gold: take snacks with you, drink regularly, don't just eat what's backstage. Your body is your instrument - treat it as such.Create emotional anchors
Whether it's a diary, a favorite song or a quick call to your best friend - find ways to connect with yourself, even when everything is in motion on the outside.
Especially in summer, when many people are out and about, many people forget about themselves. But you are more than your project. If you are doing well, not only your audience will feel it - you will share your music with more depth, presence and joy.
