December magic: Why this month shapes your career as a musician

December is more than just lights, mulled wine, and last-minute stress.
It is a turning point, also (and especially) in the music business.

Many musicians experience this month as tough or "lost." Hardly any gigs. Little reach. No feedback from organizers. And inside, that quiet question:
"What has this year actually brought?"

But this is precisely where the magic lies.
Because what you do now, how you feel and plan now, will help determine how your 2026 begins.
I have learned in recent years:
When I remain present in December, clarity, strength, and genuine creative vision emerge.

Here are three ways you can make the most of December as a musician:

1. Look back with depth, not guilt
Write down:

  • What were your three biggest learnings?

  • What was successful, even though it was invisible?

  • What can be finalized?

I do this every December, with tea, a notebook, and music that moves me.
Not as a business strategy. But as an act of honesty.

2. Gentle visibility instead of year-end frenzy
You don't have to post a barrage of content.
But an honest year-end post, a song you share again, a little review—that shows presence.
Especially in December, people notice who is really putting their heart into it.

3. Feel your way into the next year without planning
Before you schedule the next quarter:

  • What is calling you inwardly?

  • What are you missing?

  • What do you want to feel more in 2026?

I often ask my coaching participants:
"What if success didn't feel like stress, but like freedom?"
And December is the perfect time to answer that question honestly.

You can slow down.
But you can also dream big.
Because the turn of the year is not only a time for reflection, but also for your vision as a musician.

Kind regards
